Gene Information

human ... LRRC4(64101)

General description

Leucine-rich repeat-containing protein 4, or LRRC4, also known as Nasopharyngeal carcinoma-associated gene 14 protein or Netrin-G2 ligand (NGL-2), and encoded by the gene LRRC4/BAG, is a synaptic adhesion protein that regulates the formation of excitatory synapses through the recruitment of key pre and post synaptic proteins. LRRC4 is particularly important in auditory synaptic responses and LRRC4 is a key regulator of input-specific synapse development in the hippocampus as well. Finally, LRRC4 appears important in the suppression of glioma cancers in the brain and is specifically down regulated in tumors, and is currently being investigated as a potential anti-cancer target. LRRC4 is localized to the cell junctions and synapses. It is a cell membrane bound, post-synaptic, protein, and LRRC4’s expression is brain specific.

Immunogen

Epitope: Extracellular domain
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to the extracellular domain of human LRRC4.

Application

Anti-LRRC4 Antibody is a highly specific rabbit polyclonal antibody, that targets Leucine-rich repeat-containing protein 4 & has been tested in western blotting & IHC.
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:50 dilution from a representative lot detected Lrrc4 in rat hippocampus tissue, whereas a 1:500 dilution from a representative lot detected LRRC4 in human cerebellum and thalamus tissues.

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blotting in human brain tissue lysate.

Western Blotting: 1 µg/mL of this antibody detected LRRC4 in 10 µg of human brain tissue lysate.

Target description

~100 kDa observed. This protein may be observed at higher molecular weights due to glycosylation.

Physical form

Affinity purified
Purified rabbit polyclonal in buffer containing 0.1 M Tris-Glycine (pH 7.4), 150 mM NaCl with 0.05% sodium azide.

Storage and Stability

Stable for 1 year at 2-8°C from date of receipt.
