Application

  • Electrocatalytic conversion of furfural: Zhu et al. reviewed the mechanisms, catalysts, and perspectives on the electrocatalytic conversion of biomass-derived furan compounds, including furfural. This process emphasizes the potential of furfural in green chemistry and chemical process optimization (Zhu et al., 2024).
  • Biocatalytic production of furfural: Gong et al. explored the use of electron-rich Ru supported on N-doped coffee biochar for the selective reductive amination of furfural to furfurylamine, highlighting a novel method for furfural utilization in pharmaceutical synthesis and biomass chemical production (Gong et al., 2024).
  • Use of furfural in detoxification: Wang et al. discussed the application of microalgae in the detoxification of lignocellulosic pretreatment wastewater, demonstrating furfural′s role in the sustainable management and resource utilization of wastewater, contributing to environmental and chemical process optimization (Wang et al., 2024).
