General description

A cell-permeable sulfonanilide that is shown to exhibit an antiproliferative effect against SKBR-3, BT474 and MDA-MB-453, and affects MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 only at much higher concentrations.
A cell-permeable sulfonanilide that is shown to exhibit an antiproliferative effect against three HER-2-positive breast cancer cell lines, SKBR-3, BT474 and MDA-MB-453 (IC50= 0.9, 2.2, and 4.0 µM, respectively), and affects two HER-2-negative breast cancer cell lines, MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 only at much higher concentrations (IC50 = 22.1 and 19.6 µM, respectively). The compound is not expected to be a COX-2 inhibitor and its cellular target(s) and mechanism(s) of growth inhibition is yet to be seen.
