The nitro and carbonyl oxygen atoms of 3′-nitroacetophenone can act as hydrogen-bond acceptors.[1]

Application

3′-Nitroacetophenone can undergo high hydrostatic pressure-assisted reduction with Ni–Al alloy in water to form 1-(3-aminophenyl)ethanol.[2]
