Application

Palladium on activated charcoal can be used as a heterogeneous catalyst:
  • To synthesize methyl esters via oxidative esterification of primary alcohols.
  • In the hydrogenation of phenol to cyclohexanone.
  • For carbonylation of iodoanilines with amines and trimethyl orthoformate to prepare quinazolinones.
  • In the hydrodehalogenation of aromatic halides to form arenes in aqueous media.
