Application

Monomer for synthesis of polymers for high power conversion efficiency (PCE) organic solar cells and high mobility OFETs.
Fluorination lowers the polymer HOMO level; resulting in high open-circuit voltages well exceeding 0.7 V.
High-Efficiency Polymer F-PCPDTBT:PC70BM Bulk Heterojuction Organic Solar Cells (OPVs):
  • JSC = 14.1 mA/cm2
  • VOC = 0.74 V
  • FF = 0.58
  • PCE = 6.2%

Steve Albrecht et al.
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 134(36), 14932-14944 (2012-08-07)
A novel fluorinated copolymer (F-PCPDTBT) is introduced and shown to exhibit significantly higher power conversion efficiency in bulk heterojunction solar cells with PC(70)BM compared to the well-known low-band-gap polymer PCPDTBT. Fluorination lowers the polymer HOMO level, resulting in high open-circuit
Yong Zhang et al.
Chemical communications (Cambridge, England), 47(39), 11026-11028 (2011-09-13)
Small band-gap conjugated polymers based on monofluoro- and difluoro-substituted benzothiadiazole were developed. Highly efficient polymer solar cells (PCE as high as 5.40%) could be achieved for devices made from these polymers.
