Description

General description

2-(tert-Butylamino)ethanol (TBAE) is an alkanolamine.[1] Its dissociation constant has been evaluated at several temperatures.[1] It is a sterically hindered amine and is a useful chemical absorbent for the selective absorption of hydrogen sulfide in the presence of carbon dioxide.[2] The physical solubility of hydrogen sulfide in aqueous solutions of TBAE neutralized with hydrochloric acid has been tested. The obtained solubility data was correlated using the van-Krevelen-Hoftijzer method.[3]

Application

2-(tert-Butylamino)ethanol may be used in the synthesis of 3-tert-butyl-2,2-diphenyl-1,3-oxazaborolidine.[4]
