General description

(2-Hydroxyethyl)-β-cyclodextrin is a chemically modified, hydroxyalkylated derivative of cyclodextrin that finds potential use mainly in cosmetics application.[1][2]

Application

(2-Hydroxyethyl)-β-cyclodextrin may be used as a chiral selector to resolve cathinone derivatives,[3] lactic acid[4] and oxybutynin[5] enantiomers by capillary electrophoresis (CE), and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) techniques.
