Specificity

Recognizes the formaldehyde conjugate of serotonin. Without paraformaldehyde treatment, it cross-reacts in liquid phase with dopamine and tryptamine in hemagglutination tests. Shows no reactivity with catecholamine-containing neurons in formaldehyde fixed preparations. MAB352 reacts with serotonin in neurons and recognizes serotonergic sites in fixed tissue sections. By cell agglutination, no cross reactivity with 5-hydroxyindolacetic acid, GABA, noradrenaline, 5-hydroxytryptophan, carnosine or melatonin.

Immunogen

Serotonin conjugated to BSA.

Application

Anti-Serotonin Antibody, clone YC5/45 is an antibody against Serotonin for use in IH.
Immunohistochemistry at 1:100-1:200 for formaldehyde fixed tissue.

Optimal working dilutions must be determined by the end user.

Inter-individual behavioral variation is thought to increase fitness and aid adaptation to environmental change, but the underlying mechanisms are poorly understood. We find that variation between individuals in neuromodulatory input contributes to individuality in short-term habituation of the zebrafish (Danio

Serotonin is reported to be present in early embryos of many species and plays an important role in early patterning. Since it is a fluorophore, it can be directly visualized using fluorescence microscopy. Here, we use three-photon microscopy to image

The molecular mechanisms underlying the ability of axons to regenerate after injury remain poorly understood. Here we show that in Caenorhabditis elegans, axotomy induces ectopic expression of serotonin (5-HT) in axotomized non-serotonergic neurons via HIF-1, a hypoxia-inducible transcription factor, and

The electric activity of lower motor neurons (MNs) appears to play a role in determining cell-vulnerability in MN diseases. MN excitability is modulated by cholinergic inputs through C-type synaptic boutons, which display an endoplasmic reticulum-related subsurface cistern (SSC) adjacent to
