一般說明

The gene PPP3CC (protein phosphatase 3 catalytic subunit γ) encodes the calcineurin γ catalytic subunit (CNAγ). Calcineurin, a CNS protein that functions as a serine/threonine protein phosphatase, is calcium-dependent. It is a heterodimer consisting of a regulatory subunit, CNB, and a catalytic subunit, CNA. Three different isoforms of CNA are present. The gene is mapped to human chromosome 8p21.3.

生化／生理作用

Calcineurin functions in the downstream regulation of dopaminergic signal transduction and stimulates synaptic plasticity that is dependent on certain forms of N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors. It bridges dopaminergic and glutamatergic signaling. The PPP3CC (protein phosphatase 3 catalytic subunit γ) gene is associated with susceptibility to schizophrenia.
