一般說明
Flotillins are lipid raft-associated proteins belonging to the integral membrane proteins. It is associated in different biological processes such as endocytosis, phagocytosis, neuronal regeneration, insulin signaling etc. It exhibits an evolutionarily conserved domain called the prohibitin homology (PHB) domain or SPFH domain (stomatin/prohibitin/flotillin/HflK/C domain). The lipid recognition motif present in the PHB domain, is responsible for targeting proteins to the plasma membrane. Flotillin protein mainly possess two forms, flotillin 1 and 2. They are also known as reggie-2 and 1, respectively.
免疫原
synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acid residues 413-428 of mouse flotillin 1, conjugated to KLH. The corresponding sequence is identical in rat and differs by one amino acid in human.
應用
Anti-Flotillin 1-CY3™ antibody is suitable for direct immunofluorescence at a concentration of 2-5μg/mL using human HEK-293T or HeLa cells
生化/生理作用
Flotillin 1 is directly connected to the plasma membrane. The association of flotillin 1 depends on the palmitoylation in a conserved Cys34 residue, whereas the association of flotillin 2 depends on both myristolation and palmitoylation. Both the form possess a complementary tissue distribution. Flotillin 1 is mainly expressed in striated muscle tissues, adipose tissue and lung, whereas flotillin 2 is much widely found but absent from skeletal muscle. It has been reported that flotillin 1 act as a molecular link between lipid rafts of the plasma membrane and a multimeric signaling complex at the actin cytoskeleton.

Flotillin-1 is a lipid raft-associated protein that has been implicated in various cellular processes. We examined the subcellular distribution of flotillin-1 in different cell types and found that localization is cell type-specific. Flotillin-1 relocates from a cytoplasmic compartment to the

Caveolae are vesicular organelles that represent a subcompartment of the plasma membrane. Caveolins and flotillins are two families of mammalian caveolae-associated integral membrane proteins. However, it remains unknown whether flotillins interact with caveolin proteins to form a stable caveolar complex

Caveolae are plasmalemmal microdomains that are involved in vesicular trafficking and signal transduction. We have sought to identify novel integral membrane proteins of caveolae. Here we describe the identification and molecular cloning of flotillin. By several independent methods, flotillin behaves

The reggie protein family consists of two proteins, reggie-1 and -2, also called flotillins, which are highly ubiquitous and evolutionarily conserved. Both reggies have been shown to be associated with membrane rafts and are involved in various cellular processes such

Flotillins are lipid raft-associated proteins, which have been implicated in neuronal regeneration and insulin signaling. We now show that newly synthesized flotillin-1 reaches the plasma membrane via a Sar1-independent and brefeldin A-resistant targeting pathway.
