General description

The gene KLK11 (kallikrein 11) encodes a member of the kallikrein gene family. The gene is mapped to human chromosome 19q13.4. It is found to be highly expressed in the prostate. It has been found to be present in biological fluids and in serum of patients with various cancers. KLK11 is also found to be expressed in stomach, trachea, skin, and colon.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to residues 68-82 of the human Kallikrein 11. This sequence is 86% identical in mouse and rat.

Biochem/physiol Actions

The gene KLK11 (kallikrein 11) encodes a putative serine protease that is overexpressed in prostate and ovarian cancer. It serves as a biomarker for prognosis of ovarian cancer. It can serve as a marker for distinguishing between prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Physical form

solution in phosphate buffered saline, containing 0.02% sodium azide.
