Human glioblastoma

Cell Line Description

A human A human glioblastoma multiforme cell line derived from a 65-year-old male. The results of immunocytochemical analysis for GFAP, Vimentin, NestiN and CD33 were positive in early and late passage cells. MGMT methylation was negative. Karyotype: Near tetraploid; range 88 to 91 with two copies of marker: der(6;7;12;)del(6q ), t(6;11), t(6;17) del(17q). Six copies of chromosome 7 and other rearrangements with loss and gain of chromosome fragments involving chromosomes 1,2,3,5,10,9,19,20. The X and Y chromosomes are present. Culture Medium

DMEM:HAMS F12 (1:1) + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS)

Subculture Routine

Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:3 to 1:5 i.e. seeding at 3-4x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2;37ºC.
