General description

Ammonium sulfate is a versatile inorganic salt commonly used as an agriculture fertilizer as a nitrogen and sulfur source. It is also used as an extracting agent to extract metals such as iron, chromium, aluminum, and calcium. Furthermore, ammonium sulfate is employed in the purification of antibodies either from serum or ascitic fluids and in precipitating or fractionating proteins.

Application

Ammonium sulfatecan be used as a reagent in the palladium-catalyzed amination of aryl halidesto arylamines in the presence of sodium tert-butoxide. It can also beused as a catalyst in the hexamethyldisilazane-mediated reaction ofquinazolin-4(3H)-ones with primary amines to synthesize 4-aminoquinazolines.

In this study we examined the mechanism by which ammonium bicarbonate inhibits mycotoxigenic fungi. Elevated extracellular pH, alone, was not responsible for the antifungal activity. Although conidia of Penicillium griseofulvum and Fusarium graminearum had internal pH (pHi) values as high
