General description
Aluminum oxide (Alumina) was used as an adsorbent in TLC. It can be prepared by calcination of aluminium hydroxide in moderate temperature followed by washing. The adsorbent is backed on glass plates to perform TLC.
It is also evident that the amount of water affects the chromatographic behavior of alumina during TLC. There are three types:
a. Acidic
b. Basic
c. Neutral
