General description

The Vent Filter with CO2 trap is designed to protect highly sensitive stored pure water from possible contaminants in the environment. These include carbon dioxide, particles, micro-organisms and volatile organic compounds that mainly come from the laboratory atmosphere.

When carbon dioxide dissolves in water, it forms bicarbonate and carbonate ions. This reaction increases the ionic content of the pure water and compromises the pure water quality. The vent filter significantly reduces atmospheric organic and ionic contamination entering the reservoir.

The vent filter must be replaced once a year for best results.

Application

For use with SDS storage tanks with pure water.

Features and Benefits

  • Activated carbon adsorbs volatile organic compounds.
  • A soda-lime bed removes carbon dioxide.
  • A membrane filter retains particles and bacteria.
  • The vent filter is easily installed in the built-in holder on the front of the SDS reservoir.

Questions

1–9 of 9 Questions
  1. What are the storage conditions for this product?

    1 answer
    1. Recommended storage conditions: temperatures from 5 to 30°C; humidity between 10 and 80%. The original sealed bag (if provided) must be kept intact before the first use to protect the purification element from foreign matter.

  2. How are consumables changed?

    1 answer
    1. To help you to change your system's consumables, several video tutorials are available on our YouTube channel: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2TUriaAaEA_IXDCnPbDk6OmrwptjwOHD. For high-flow systems, please keep in mind that all consumable changes must be approved by a 3-digit code that only the person in charge of the system knows.

      Helpful?

  3. How can I know which consumables can be used with my system?

    1 answer
    1. To know which consumables can be used on your system, you can see in the user manual of your system or see all the consumables for each system listed on https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/products/water-purification/milli-q-consumables.

      Helpful?

  4. What steps are you taking towards improved sustainability?

    1 answer
    1. Sustainability is at the heart of our innovations. From reducing water and energy consumption, to minimizing plastic and chemical waste, our dedicated water system engineers are constantly working on new ways to reduce the ecological footprint of our products to better support the sustainability goals we're all striving towards. For more information, we invite you to review the following brochure and infographic which highlight our efforts and achievements: https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/life-science/milliq#sus. Do not hesitate to contact your local representative or sales contact (https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/collections/offices) for further information.

  5. Can I arrange to have my consumables automatically ordered and delivered once a year?

    1 answer
    1. It's possible to place only one consumable order per year with a specific contract called "Consumable Supply Agreement (CSA)" (https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/US/en/products/water-purification/milli-q-consumables#csa). For further information, contact your local representative or sales contact (https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/US/en/collections/offices).

      Helpful?

  6. How frequently do the various consumables need to be changed?

    1 answer
    1. The frequency that consumables must be changed depends on the system's usage (treated water volume) and on the consumables themselves (time of usage). In order to ensure the quality of water and your results, the consumables should be replaced when the system alerts you.

  7. Where can I find data sheets, Certificates of Origin, Certificates of Analysis, and Certificates of Quality?

    1 answer
    1. Documents and certificates are available in the "Documentation" section on this page. Do not hesitate to contact us if you require further information.

      Helpful?

  8. Can consumables be opened and refilled?

    1 answer
    1. Unfortunately, this is not possible because of safety issues and the need to guarantee the quality of consumables and their interior purification components. Our consumables are manufactured in an ISO 9001-certified facility France in agreement with high quality standards.

      Helpful?

  9. If I have a final filter that I use only occasionally (e.g., Biopak®) and have another filter (e.g. Millipak®) that I most of the time, can I keep the 'occasional-use' filter for use again at a later time?

    1 answer
    1. It is not possible to re-use a filter that has been used and then removed because air intake during replacement creates an airlock and blocks water passing through the filter. If you regularly need two different filters, we recommend using two POD dispensers.
