Midori L Wasielewski et al.
International journal of molecular sciences, 24(4) (2023-02-26)
This study analyzed the nuclease- and serum-driven degradation of millimeter-scale, circular DNA-histone mesostructures (DHMs). DHMs are bioengineered chromatin meshes of defined DNA and histone compositions designed as minimal mimetics of physiological extracellular chromatin structures, such as neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs).

Questions

1–6 of 6 Questions
  1. Is dialyzed human serum available?

    1 answer
    1. Dialyzed serum is not sold as a product. However, normal human serum (cat #s S1-LITER or S1-100ML) is available.
Additionally, we provide various products that allow the client to dialyze the serum. Depending on the volume of serum to be dialyzed, any of the following products will work:
•D-Tubes or Amicon Ultra for small volumes
      •Centricon Plus-70 for centrifuging 70 mL samples (cat # UFC701008)
•Stirred cells along with 10 kDa MWCO ultrafiltration membrane discs for volumes up to 400 mL

      Helpful?

  2. Is the product "Human Serum, Normal (S1-100ML)" Male only, Female only or Male/Female mix?

    1 answer
    1. This product is pooled human serum, typically consisting of hundreds of male and female donors.

      Helpful?

  3. Is there any detectable thrombin in this serum?

    1 answer
    1. Unfortunately, this product is not tested for thrombin.

      Helpful?

  4. Hi, wonder if this is a pooled serum from multiple donors or a single bottle is from a single donor? thanks.

    1 answer
    1. This serum product is pooled from multiple donors. The typical batch varies but can range from 400 to 500 donors.

      Helpful?

  5. I would like to know whether it has been inactivated as I intend to use the complement components in the serum to activate the complement system in vitro. Additionally, does this serum have been previously used in complement activation studies?

    1 answer
    1. This product has not been inactivated, however it is not tested for use in compliment studies. The product may or may not be suitable for this application. See the link below for a product that may be of interest:

      Helpful?

  6. Hi! I was wondering how this serum is collected and what storage agents/additives were used in the collection tubes/bags. E.g. silica in Vacutainer SST tubes

    1 answer
    1. As it states in the "Description" section, normal human serum is collected off the clot from healthy normal humans. It is a nonsterile liquid with no preservatives.
