General description

The Eosin Y-solution 0.5%, alcoholic - for microscopy, is a ready-to-use solution that can be used for routine staining in the hematoxylin-eosin staining process (H&E) of sample material of human origin. The H&E staining process is the most frequently used staining method for histological material. The staining mechanism behind the H&E staining is a physico-chemical process. In the first step, the positively charged nuclear dye (Mayer′s hematoxylin , Product number 1.09249, or Hematoxylin solution modified acc. to Gil III, Product number 1.05154) binds to the negatively charged phosphate groups of the nucleic acid of the cell nucleus. The nuclei will be dyed dark blue to dark violet. The second step is the counterstaining with negatively charged anionic Eosin Y, a xanthene dye. Eosin binds to the positively charged plasma proteins. Cytoplasma and intercellular substances are stained pink to red, while erythrocytes will appear with yellow to orange color.
The 500 ml bottle is sufficient for approx. 750 specimens. This product is registered as IVD and CE marked. For more details, please see instructions for use (IFU). The IFU can be downloaded from this webpage.

Accumulating evidence suggests that iron homeostasis is disturbed in tumors. We aimed at clarifying the distribution of iron in renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Considering the pivotal role of macrophages for iron homeostasis and their association with poor clinical outcome, we
