Somatostatin (also known as growth hormone inhibiting hormone (GHIH) or somatotropin release-inhibiting factor (SRIF) has two active forms, 14 amino acids and 28 amino acids, which are produced by alternate cleavage of the single preproprotein. Somatostatin is expressed widely and acts to inhibit the release of several secondary hormones by binding to high-affinity G-protein coupled somatostatin receptors. Presence of somatostatin has been shown in sympathetic nerves, mucosal cells, myenteric nerves of the gastrointestinal tract, salivary glands and in some parafollicular cells of the thyroid.
Specificity
Anti-SST, clone YC7 recognizes Somatostatin. Shows no cross-reactivity to enkephalins, other endorphins, substance P or CGRP. Partially cross-reacts with somatostatin fragments.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 1-14 of cyclic somatostatin conjugated to bovine thyroglobulin using carbodiimide.
Application
Anti-Somatostatin Antibody, clone YC7 is an antibody against Somatostatin for use in IH.
Immunohistochemistry at 1:50-1:100 on human brain.
Optimal working dilutions must be determined by the end user.
Physical form
Lyophilized Supernatant, preservative free.
Storage and Stability
Lyophilized antibody can be kept at 2-8°C for up to 3 months and should be kept at -20°C for long term storage. Reconstitute with 100μL sterile DI water. Maintain at -20°C in undiluted aliquots for up to 6 months. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
