Gene Information

human ... MMP14(4323)

General description

Anti-MMP-14 Antibody detects endogenous levels of total MMP-14 protein. Matrix metalloproteinase-14 (MMP-14) is a collagenase localized to the cell membrane. The gene encoding it is present on human chromosome 14.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human MMP-14.

Immunogen Range: 471-520

Biochem/physiol Actions

Matrix metalloproteinase-14 (MMP-14) aids in the migration of leukocytes and breaks down collagen. Migration of cells through the extracellular matrix is also mediated by it. MMP-14 has been shown to be associated with tuberculosis and glioma.

Platelet inhibition has been considered an effective strategy for combating cancer metastasis and compromising disease malignancy although recent clinical data provided evidence that long-term platelet inhibition might increase incidence of cancer deaths in initially cancer-free patients.
