Description

General description

The GS System^™ uses the Glutamine synthetase (GS) gene as a selectable marker for the expression of recombinant proteins in mammalian cells, especially NS0 and CHO cells. The system has been shown to have significant advantages with respect to speed and efficiency of cell line development and has resulted in high productivity for antibodies and other recombinant proteins.

Application

The glutamine synthetase (GS) system is used to express recombinant proteins from mammalian cells. Glutamine-dependent cells transfected with a glutamine synthetase gene can be selectively grown in a suitable glutamine-deficient medium.

GS Supplement 50X has been used to as a supplement for culture media to grow GS-NS0 mouse myeloma cells.

Preparation Note

One mL will supplement 50 mL of cell culture medium.
