Porous polymers are the most suitable adsorbent for applications based on the analysis of gases, acids, amines, organics of low carbon number and water.[1] They are best suited for gas chromatography and are basically copolymers of polydivinylbenzene (DVB) which are very porous in nature ranging from mesoporous to microporous.[2] Porapak N is a porous polymer bead which provides significantly lower background at the carbon emission line.[3] They are suitable in separating H2, CH4, CO2.[4]

应用

Stainless steel columns packed with Porapak N maybe used for the separation and determination of micro-quantities of formic, acetic, propionic, isobutyric, butyric, 3-methylbutyric and valeric acids present in biological media as end-products of microbial fermentation.[5]
