番茄碱诱导抗氧化核因子 E2 相关因子 2（Nrf2）和线粒体自噬，有利于延缓线虫的衰老过程。它是一种肌肉萎缩抑制剂，通过激活哺乳动物雷帕霉素靶蛋白络合物 1（mTORC1）促进肌肉的合成代谢。可能对治疗骨骼肌萎缩有用。
