2-Methylserotonin is a selective full agonist at the 5-HT3 receptor.

2-Methylserotonin maleate, a serotonin type 3 (5-HT3) agonist is used as a training drug in drug discrimination studies.[1] Use of 2-methylserotonin in evolving rats shows to reflect the ontogeny of the spinal 5-HT3 receptor system.[2]
