生化/生理作用
Leptin receptor (Lepr) belonging to class I cytokine receptor family, binds with leptin, a small non-glycosylated peptide hormone and transduces signal. Lepr expression is present in brain and immune cells.[1] Signal transduction through Lepr regulates fat metabolism in mammals. Lepr is part of the hematopoietic pathway.[2] Lepr is a marker for mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs) and regulates the regenerative process of bone and cartilage after injury.[3] Lepr regulates pancreatic β cell functions.[4] Polymorphism in Lepr causes metabolic diseases like obesity, dyslipidemia, hypertension and Type 2 diabetes. Mutations in Lepr associates with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) susceptibility.[5]
