LDLR′s (low density lipoprotein receptor) major function is to regulate the level of lipoprotein particles by mediating the clearance of LDL-cholesterol and triglyceride through receptor mediated endocytosis.[1][3][4] LDLR is involved in proliferation by providing cholesterol for membrane synthesis.[5] The LDLR gene is a target for treating cardiovascular diseases.[1] Mutation in the gene causes familial hypercholesterolemia.[2]
