GALNTL5 (polypeptide N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase-like 5) is a part of the polypeptide N-acetylgalactosamine-transferase (pp-GalNAc-T) family of proteins. It does not contain the conserved lectin domain at the C-terminal, unlike other members of this family, but it has the conserved catalytic domains of pp-GalNAc-T family. One isoform of this protein is exclusively expressed in human testis. This gene is localized to human chromosome 7q36.1.

GALNTL5 (polypeptide N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase-like 5) is responsible for the O-linked glycosylation of proteins. Heterozydous deletion in this gene is associated with asthenozoospermia. Therefore, GALNTL5 might be involved in spermatogenesis and maturation of sperms.
