Phosphatidic acid (PA) is a diacyl-glycerophospholipid, with two fatty acids and a phosphate group that are covalently attached to a glycerol molecule through ester linkages.[1] PA is rich in soy lecithin.[2] PA is produced endogenously by the hydrolytic action of the enzyme phospholipase D.[2][3] It is also produced through phosphorylation of diacyl glycerol (DAG) by diacylglycerol kinases (DGKs).[3]

Soy PA is suitable for use in validation of PA probe.[3]
