一般描述

8mol% Yttria doped ceria may be prepared by carbonate coprecipitation technique.[1][2] Yttria doped ceria exhibits high ionic conductivity, low activation energy and small grain boundary resistance. The effect of microstructure on the electrolytic properties was investigated in detail.[2]
Cerium(IV) oxide-yttria doped (YDC-20) is an electrolytic material that is used as an alternative to zirconia-based electrolytes. Its properties include high ionic conductivity (0.01 S cm−1), electronic conductivity (3 S cm−1), enhanced electrode reactions, and high oxygen surface exchange coefficient.[3][4][5]

应用

They are promising ceramic electrolytes for solid oxide fuel cells operating at low temperatures of 500-700°C (IT-SOFC). Doped ceria interlayers in between bulk yttria-stabilized zirconia electrolyte further enhance the performance of SOFCs.
YDC-20 can be used as an electrolyte in the fabrication of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). A thin film of YDC-20 (~17.5 nm) effectively reduces the cathode/interfacial energy by 0.1 eV and increases the exchange current density by a factor of 4. It can be operated with a temperature range of 300° - 500°C.[3][4][5][6]
