Gene Information

General description

Tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase 2 (TIMP -2) is expressed in the brain especially in spinal motor neurons, cerebellar Purkinje cells, cerebral cortical, and hippocampal pyramidal cells. It is an inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase and tumor angiogenesis. TIMP-2 is involved in matrix remodeling and stimulates quiescent cell proliferation. This ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of a target protein in biological samples, such as serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants, urine, and/or cell and tissue lysates.

Application

For research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
Please refer to the attached Protocolfor details.
Rat TIMP-2 ELISA Kit has been used in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay to quantify tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase 2 (TIMP -2) in U87MG human glioblastoma cells.

Neuronal differentiation requires exquisitely timed cell cycle arrest for progenitors to acquire an appropriate neuronal cell fate and is achieved by communication between soluble signals, such as growth factors and extracellular matrix molecules. Here we report that the expression of

Tissue Inhibitor of Metalloproteinase 2 (TIMP-2) plays an essential role in regulating matrix remodeling, cell growth, differentiation, angiogenesis and apoptosis in vitro and in vivo. We have recently shown that TIMP-2-mediated inhibition of tumor growth is independent of matrix metalloproteinase-mediated

Tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs) suppress matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) activity critical for extracellular matrix turnover associated with both physiologic and pathologic tissue remodeling. We demonstrate here that TIMP-2 abrogates angiogenic factor-induced endothelial cell proliferation in vitro and angiogenesis in vivo

The present study investigated the underlying molecular mechanism by which Buthus martensii Karsch chlorotoxin (BmK CT) inhibits the invasion and metastasis of glioma cells and the possibility of 131I‑labeled BmK CT (131I‑BmK CT) as a novel targeted agent for the treatment of glioma. The
