General description

Hy-Case® Amino is an acid digest of casein processed to a high degree of hydrolysis. It is a refined hydrolysate with high solubility and is used as a microbiological nutrient in laboratory media and fermentations. Casein hydrolysate is produced by the digestion of casein with hydrochloric acid. The digestion conditions are such that a proportion of vitamins and growth promoting substances are retrained. Tryptophane is destroyed by the acid treatment. The inorganic salts level is high due to neutralization of the acid.

Application

Hy-Case® Amino or Casein hydrolysate is especially suited for the large-scale cultivation of Streptococci, for toxins and streptokinase production. In industrial fermentations it favors a high yield of biomass, particularly for certain yeasts and fastidious bacilli. It is also used as a nutrient in vaccine and toxin production where a high free amino acid content is required.

Quality

Primarily free amino acids with a small amount of peptides.
