General description

Cesium hydroxidemonohydrate is commonly used as a catalyst in many organic transformations andas an initiator in polymerization reactions.

Application

Cesium hydroxide monohydrate can be used as a catalyst in the synthesis of:
  • O-allenes and N-allenes via isomerization of terminal alkynes. This method allows the efficient synthesis of allenes in high yields under mild conditions with wide functional group tolerance.
  • Unsymmetrical bis-allyl ethers consist of an E-allylic unit and a terminal allylic unit via dimerization of Baylis-Hillman adducts.
Cesium hydroxide monohydrate can also be used as an initiator for the heterogeneous ring-opening polymerization of monosubstituted oxiranes.
