General description

Stearyl stearate is the ester of stearic acid and 1-octadecanol.

Stearyl stearate may be used as a model lipid to stain contact lenses in evaluating the lipid-degrading ability of the cholesterol esterase enzyme produced from Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
