General description

A synthetic zwitterionic detergent, which unlike other amphoteric surfactants, retains its zwitterionic character over a broad pH range. This property is attributed to the presence of both a strongly basic quaternary ammonium ion and an acidic sulfonate ion of equal strength. This ionic balance presumably prevents irreversible binding to either anionic or cationic compounds.

Application

• Characterization for the Similarity Assessment between Proposed Biosimilar SB12 and Eculizumab Reference Product Using a State-of-the-Art Analytical Method.: The study characterizes the similarity between biosimilar SB12 and Eculizumab, employing Zwittergent^® 3-12 Detergent for accurate protein analysis (Kim et al., 2023).
