Fluid Thioglycollate Medium to uniwersalna pożywka złożona. Tioglikolan i L-cysteina zmniejszają potencjał redoks podłoża hodowlanego i tworzą atmosferę beztlenową, a także inaktywują rtęć i inne związki metali ciężkich. Obecność agaru zmniejsza szybką dyfuzję tlenu przez pożywkę, ale może prowadzić do niewielkiego zmętnienia w większych objętościach (wypełnionych butelkach). Resazuryna wskazuje potencjał redukcyjny pożywki. Zwiększone stężenie tlenu jest wskazywane przez zmianę koloru na różowy.

Application

Pożywka Fluid Thioglycollate Medium jest używana do izolacji i hodowli wymagających mikroorganizmów beztlenowych i tlenowych. Nadaje się do kontroli sterylności produktów farmaceutycznych.
