The substance is very slightly soluble in alcohol, readily soluble in aqueous solutions of mineral acids, NaOH, and KOH. It is insoluble in aqueous solutions of ammonia and of the alkali carbonates. Additionally, it is insoluble in chloroform, ether, acetone, and oils.
