This antibody will neutralize the biological activity of recombinant mouse TPO. By ELISA, the antibody shows <15% cross-reactivity with recombinant human TPO.
Immunogen
recombinant mouse TPO.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Thrombopoietin is a humoral growth factor that is synthesized in the liver and regulates the proliferation and maturation of megakaryocytes, and production of platelets. It modulates the response of platelets to various stimuli by regulating the homeostatic potential.
Physical form
Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 5% trehalose.

Thrombocytopenia is a common hematologic disorder. Stimulation of thrombopoiesis may reduce the risk for thrombocytopenia-induced bleeding, prevent severe thrombocytopenia, and reduce the need for platelet transfusion. The key cytokine is thrombopoietin (TPO). It regulates proliferation and maturation of megakaryocytes as

Thrombopoietin (TPO) is a humoral growth factor originally identified for its ability to stimulate the proliferation and differentiation of megakaryocytes. In addition to its actions on thrombopoiesis, TPO directly modulates the homeostatic potential of mature platelets by influencing their response
