Application

Cholecystokinin (CCK) is a peptide hormone of the gastrointestinal system responsible for stimulating the digestion of fat and protein. It is used to study brain, kidney and pancreatic functioning as well as reproductive behavior and glucose tolerance[1][2].

Biochem/physiol Actions

CCK mediates digestion and satiety. It has anti-inflammatory properties. CCK stimulates insulin secretion through phospholipase activity in b-cells[2].

Inhibitory parvalbumin-containing interneurons (PVIs) control neuronal discharge and support the generation of theta- and gamma-frequency oscillations in cortical networks. Fast GABAergic input onto PVIs is crucial for their synchronization and oscillatory entrainment, but the role of metabotropic GABA(B) receptors (GABA(B)Rs)
