General description

Gram staining is one of the most significant staining techniques in microbiology. Gram′s decolorizer solution is a mixture of ethanol and acetone.

Application

Gram′s decolorizer solution is used in Gram staining procedure, after the iodine step to remove the crystal violet dye. The decolorizer dissolves the lipid layer from the gram-negative cells.
