General description

Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA) is a complex medium for cultivation and isolation of yeasts and molds. The high concentration of dextrose and low pH promotes the growth of yeast and molds while inhibiting bacterial growth. The media also promotes the formation of spores (conidia and sporangia) and pigments of yeasts and molds. The presence of chloramphenicol further inhibits the growth of the accompanying bacterial flora of heavily contaminated material, due to its wide spectrum.

Application

Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA) with Chloramphenicol is designed for the determination of the total count of yeasts and molds. The media is used for the microbiological examination of non-sterile products.

Features and Benefits

Our ready to use media provide the highest level of quality and testing confidence. They have been formulated and tested to meet the pharmacopoeia requirements. Our media are manufactured in an ISO 9001, environmentally controlled production center. Each lot undergoes a stringent quality control (QC) procedure, including pH, sterility and growth promotion tests. Our manufacturing approach ensures the highest level of clarity for our media and rinsing fluids, therefore improving accuracy and significantly reducing the risk of incorrect interpretation and false results.

Storage and Stability

  • The product can be used for sampling until the expiry date if stored upright, protected from light, and properly sealed at +2 °C to +25 °C.
  • The testing procedures described on the CoA can be started up to the expiry date printed on the label.

Other Notes

Agar media should not be melted a second time after solidifying.
