P24 is a free HIV capsid antigen. This antigen forms a part of inner shell of the virus. Less amount of P24 antigen in the blood shows high amount of P24 antibody.
Immunogen
Antibody was raised against a recombinant full-length HIV-1 p24 protein .
Application
Anti-HIV-1 P24 antibody has been used in western blotting.
Biochem/physiol Actions
P24 antigen test is usually done to evaluate new drugs.

Interferon exerts its antiviral activity by stimulating the expression of antiviral proteins. These interferon stimulate genes (ISGs) often target a group of viruses with unique molecular mechanisms. One such ISG is myxovirus resistance B (MxB) that has been reported to
Interferon-inducible transmembrane proteins (IFITMs) inhibit a broad spectrum of viruses, including HIV-1. IFITM proteins deter HIV-1 entry when expressed in target cells and also impair HIV-1 infectivity when expressed in virus producer cells. However, little is known about how viruses
Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG), a linear polymer known for its "stealth" properties, is commonly used to passivate the surface of biomedical implants and devices, and it is conjugated to biologic drugs to improve their pharmacokinetics. However, its antigenicity is a growing
