General description

3,3′-Dihydroxydiphenyl disulfide [bis(3-hydroxyphenyl) disulfide] is a symmetrical disulfide derivative that can be prepared by treating 3-hydroxythiophenol with ferric chloride.

Application

3,3′-Dihydroxydiphenyl disulfide may be used in the preparation of bis-[3-(4-fluorobenzyloxy)-phenyl]-disulfide by reacting with 4-fluorobenzyl bromide.
