一般描述

精氨酸酶是一种含锰酶,可催化精氨酸转化为尿素和鸟氨酸。大多数哺乳动物体内存在两种同种型精氨酸酶,其组织分布和亚细胞定位有所不同。精氨酸酶I是一种胞质蛋白,主要在肝脏中表达,在肝脏中催化尿素循环的第五步和最后一步。精氨酸酶II是一种线粒体蛋白,组织分布更广,其功能可包括一氧化氮和多胺代谢。精氨酸酶I的活性或表达降低可导致常染色体隐性遗传病高精氨酸血症。血清精氨酸酶活性增加与肝损伤和某些病理状态(如癌症)有关。精氨酸酶还参与免疫系统的多种炎症反应,例如巨噬细胞介导的细胞毒性。
