General description

2-n-Butyl-2-oxazoline is a member of the 2-oxazoline family used in the synthesis of well-defined polymers with controlled molecular weights and narrow molecular weight distributions. It is used particularly through its application in cationic ring-opening polymerization to produce poly(2-oxazoline)s. Its unique properties facilitate advancements in biomedical applications, functional materials development.

Application

2-n-Butyl-2-oxazoline can be used as:
  • A monomer in the synthesis of poly(2-oxazoline)s, which are promising candidates for drug delivery systems, tissue engineering scaffolds, and other biomedical uses. Their ability to form hydrophilic or amphiphilic structures enhances drug encapsulation and release profiles.
  • A monomer in the synthesis of core cross-linked star (CCS) polymers, where it serves as a hydrophobic component. These CCS polymers exhibit improved drug loading capacities and release behaviors, making them suitable for targeted therapy applications.
  • A key monomer in the synthesis in the design and synthesis of eco-friendly colorimetric nanofibers. These nanofibrous sensors are used for colorimetric pH detection.
