General description
The porcine serum comprises serum amyloid A (SAA), C-reactive protein (CRP), haptoglobin (Hp), and pig major acute phase protein (pig-MAP).
Application
Porcine Serum has been used:
- in the neutralization of lipofectamine coated adeno-associated viruses (AAVs)
- for inducing liver fibrosis in rats
- as a standard negative reference in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)
- as a component of trypticase soy broth with 0.6% yeast extract (TSBYE) for culturing A. actinomycetemcomitans strains
Biochem/physiol Actions
Pig serum acute phase proteins (APP) show elevation with age. It is used for the culture of porcine islet cells.
