Dithiothreitol (DTT), also known as Cleland′s reagent, is a reducing agent containing two thiol functional groups.[3] It serves as a protective regent for thiol groups in protein chemistry studies.[4] DTT is used in chemical peptide synthesis[5] for reducing disulfide bonds in various substrates such as glutathione, proteins, and other macromolecules.[4] It is also used as a mucolytic agent during sputum processing.[5]
