Hormone-sensitive lipase (UniProt: Q05469; also known as EC:3.1.1.79, HSL, Monoacylglycerol lipase, LIPE, Retinyl ester hydrolase, REH) is encoded by the LIPE gene (Gene ID: 3991) in human. HSL is an intracellular, neutral lipase with broad substrate specificity. It is known to exist as a monomer or as a homodimer. HSL is found in the high-density caveolae and it translocates to the cytoplasm from the caveolae upon insulin stimulation. It catalyzes the hydrolysis of triacylglycerols (TAGs), diacylglycerols (DAGs), monoacylglycerols (MAGs), cholesteryl esters, and retinyl esters. However, it does not possess phospholipase activity. It shows a preferential hydrolysis of DAGs over TAGs and MAGs and preferentially hydrolyzes the fatty acid (FA) esters at the sn-3 position of the glycerol backbone in DAGs. Its activity against DAGs is shown to be about 10-fold and 5-fold higher than its activity against TAGs and MAGs, respectively. Its hydrolytic activity against TAGs and cholesteryl esters, but not against DAGs, is stimulated by phosphorylation mediated primarily by protein kinase A. Its phosphorylation by AMPK is reported to reduce its translocation towards the lipid droplets. HSL -/- mice are shown to be resistant to obesity. Mutations in LIPE gene are known to cause familial lipodystrophy that is characterized by abnormal subcutaneous fat distribution and affected subjects show increased visceral fat, impaired lipolysis, dyslipidemia, and hepatic steatosis, and systemic insulin resistance. This ZooMAb® recombinant monoclonal antibody, generated by our propriety technology, offers significantly enhanced specificity, affinity, reproducibility, and stability over conventional monoclonals. Purified recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody IgG, lyophilized in PBS, 5% Trehalose, normal appearance a coarse or translucent resin. The PBS/trehalose components in the ZooMAb formulation can have the appearance of a semi-solid (bead like gel) after lyophilization. This is a normal phenomenon. Please follow the recommended reconstitution procedure in the data sheet to dissolve the semi-solid, bead-like, gel-appearing material. The resulting antibody solution is completely stable and functional as proven by full functional testing. Contains no biocide or preservatives, such as azide, or any animal by-products. Larger pack sizes provided as multiples of 25 μL.

Recommend storage of lyophilized product at 2-8°C; Before reconstitution, micro-centrifuge vials briefly to spin down material to bottom of the vial; Reconstitute each vial by adding 25 μL of filtered lab grade water or PBS; Reconstituted antibodies can be stored at 2-8°C, or -20°C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaws.
