SAMD9L (Sterile a motif domain-containing protein 9-like) is identified as a tumor suppressor gene. It is involved in cytokine-mediated intracellular signaling. It is down regulated in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients with hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. Absence of SAMD9L results in G1-S cell cycle transition and elevated activity of Wnt/ฮฒ-catenin pathway. It is down regulated in in T and B cells of patients with metastatic melanoma. It has lower expression in breast cancer tissue. In mice, absence of samd9l is associated with myeloid malignancies closely resembling to human diseases with -7/7q-.
