PTPN23 (protein tyrosine phosphatase, non-receptor type 23) is a Bro1p-like protein involved in the endocytic trafficking. It consists of a Bro1 domain with in vitro ESCRTs (endosomal sorting complex required for transport) binding affinity.

PTPN23 (protein tyrosine phosphatase, non-receptor type 23) is involved in sorting endocytic ubiquitinated proteins to the lumen of multivesicular bodies (MVBs). Alteration in the PTPN23 functioning causes the storage of ubiquitinated proteins on endosomal compartments followed by the morphogenesis of MVBs.
