일반 설명
Histone H1 is part of high-order chromatin structure and is a linker protein associated with nucleosome core particle. Histone H1 is mapped to human chromosome 6. Histone H1 exists in different isoforms.[1] Histone H1 comprises of N-terminal hydrophobic rich region, central globular domain and a C-terminal with intrinsically disordered regions.[2]
생화학적/생리학적 작용
The C-terminal regions of histone H1 is essential for binding to chromatin. The placement of H1 is necessary for nucleosome positioning.[2] Histone H1 maintains chromosome architecture and stabilises compaction of nucleosomes during interphase. H1-null mutants display increased rate of chromatin aberration and growth defects.[3] Histone H1 modulates embryogenesis and DNA repair. The H1 histone undergoes posttranslational modification including phosphorylation, methylation and acetylation, each of which carry out different physiological functions.[4] Histone H1 and its variants contribute to the pathogenesis in cancer, Alzheimer′s disease, male infertility and immunity related disorders.[5]
